Dr. George D. Rhyneer

Raised in Alaska, Dr. Rhyneer returned to Anchorage after completing his college and medical school degrees in the Northwest. After attending the University of Washington Medical School, he conducted his general surgery internship at Oregon Health Sciences University. His orthopedic training was primarily at the San Francisco Orthopedic Residency Training Program.
It was there that Dr. Rhyneer became a specialist in repair of traumatic injury: ligament reconstruction, cartilage and meniscus transplantation, shoulder and knee arthroscopy and joint replacement. Dr. Rhyneer was an early member of the International Cartilage Repair Society and continues to be a proactive contributor in new methods of surgery and alternative treatments. He returned to Alaska in 1999 and worked at Anchorage Fracture and Orthopedic Clinic.

He started Rhyneer Clinic in 2007 because he wanted a small practice known for personal attention, outstanding orthopedic care, good advice, the most modern technology, and staff members who exude warmth, professionalism and compassion.

Dr. Mark Caylor

Dr. Caylor joined Rhyneer Clinic July, 2013.

He was born and raised in Florida.  After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, he finalized his medical training and subsequently his orthopedic residency in 2002 at the University of South Alabama Medical Center, a busy Level 1 Trauma Center.  Dr. Caylor went into private practice for 5 years in Pensacola and had a thriving practice that became known for its excellence in sports medicine, trauma, and the latest in minimally invasive surgery.

In 2007, Dr. Caylor felt led to move his family to the Anchorage area.  He joined the Alaska Native Medical Center where he practiced for 6 years and spent the last 2 years serving as Chief of Orthopedics.

In July of 2013, he joined Dr. Rhyneer as he believed in the ideals that established the Rhyneer Clinic – a small practice known for personal attention, outstanding orthopedic care, modern technology, and a warm, professional staff.

Dr. Jeff Parker

Dr. Parker joined us officially in January 2015

Jeff Parker, MD, a second-generation orthopedic surgeon, was born and raised in California and was fortunate to be able to work as an orthopedic cast technician and scrub assistant during summer breaks in college. His undergraduate degree is from UC Berkeley, his medical degree is from University of Southern California and his formal orthopedic training was in Seattle at the University of Washington.

From 1985 to 2000 he worked in a solo practice in South Dakota. After his children were grown he and his wife, Dixie, moved to Alaska on a 5 year plan seeking new adventure.  Today, they remain happily here 15 years later.  Most of these 15 years were spent working at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) which enabled him to explore many parts of Bush Alaska.

In all, Dr. Parker has over 30 years of orthopedic surgical experience. He has literally performed over 10,000 orthopedic procedures including total hip, knee and shoulder and arthroscopic procedures in all joints, pediatric and adult. He was board-certified in 1986 and he’s taken yearly continuing education classes to demonstrate his commitment to being the best possible up-to-date orthopedic surgeon.

In addition to orthopedic surgery, Dr. Parker loves to build and create or restore objects of beauty and function. His projects are wide ranging from gun and knife blacksmithing to old car restoration and the building of planes, boats and cabins.  Dr. Parker and his wife also enjoy time spent with their five children and grandchildren.

Dr. Parker is pleased to be able to rejoin his former partner from ANMC, Dr. Mark Caylor, and is very excited to be a part of Rhyneer Caylor Clinic’s vision of a comfortable orthopedic office known for personal attention and a friendly, caring staff.

Jonathan Metzger PA-C

Jonathan joined Rhyneer Clinic in June 2012.

He began his medical career as an infantry medic in 2000.  In 2003, he served on a spearhead team with the first division into Iraq and gained invaluable orthopedic training while treating battlefield injuries.  He left the service to obtain his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, and subsequently earned his masters from Northeastern University’s Physician Assistant program in 2010.

Jonathan began his professional orthopedic career in Delaware with a primary focus on sports medicine and joint replacement.  He is well versed in common and complex orthopedic problems.

Jonathan moved to Alaska in 2012 with his wife, Julia, and they both enjoy hiking, cross-country skiing, trail running and mountain biking with their energetic dog.
